Five days since Venice, and five days since I've posted anything. Took a train back to Rome, rented a car and drove to Salerno on the Amalfi coast. Got up the next day and drove to Naples. Spent a half a day in Naples and then drove back to Salerno and spent that evening and the next day in Salerno and then that evening, picked up Joani's son Matthew, his wife Mindy and their son Everest, and drove to Sorrento, where we are now. Feel a bit like I'm in that old John Candy movie: Planes, Trains and Automobiles!
Driving around Italy is fun, but also a bit stressful. The roads are narrow and not in the best of conditions and we have been staying in out of the way locations that consistently seem to be hard to find.
Right now we are staying on the side of a mountain above Sorrento. The view is beautiful,
Day,
Or Night.
But it is crazy getting up here and in three trips up from the town we still haven't made it without taking a wrong turn.
Joani wants the computer so I'll keep this short. Here are some photos from our latest destinations.
Salerno
How do you get up to this Fortress?
These 3 photos are the only shots I took in Naples, there is a reason that we only spent half a day there. Not a nice city!
Don't like being negative when I'm traveling, but I won't be going back to Naples.
Back to Sorrento for a few more
Joani and Everest.
The Patron Saint of Sorrento.
And since it is Sunday September 15th which is Terry Fox day, in Canada I thought I'd include a photo of us in our Terry fox shirts in Honour of him.
Tomorrow it's off to the isle of Capri. Another extremely photogenic place. Hope the weather is calm and we'll go to the Blue Grotto.
