Hello all
I thought I’d say that this was going to be a quick note just to let all of you know that we made it to Paris all in one piece safe and sound, but that would be a lie and I hate lying.
In the first place there’s two of us, so maybe two pieces safe and sound, and even more importantly, I am currently on approximately 30 hours without sleep so there is no way that this is going to be a quick note!!
I tend to get long winded when I’m sleep deprived so some of you might want to skip the text and just go straight to the pictures.
European travel always freaks me out. I’ve had 6 hours added to my day, so right now as I’m writing this it’s only 7:30am your time, but it’s 1:30 in the afternoon to me. We got to Paris at 10:30 am and it was too early for us to check into our hotel although they did allow us to store our luggage. We spent the next three hours walking around Paris. Just the old parts of the city.
It seems kind of surreal to think that I was at work yesterday, walking the halls of Sunnybrook and today I’m walking along the river Seine taking photos of the Louvre,
Musee D’Orsay,
Palaces,
Notre Dame,
and Bridges spanning the river Seine with thousands of locks attached.
(Remember Paris is the “City of Love” and locks signify undying love, or so Joani tells me).
Anyone who knows me, knows that I spend too much time dreaming: (winning the lottery, retiring from Sunnybrook, getting all my hair back, being younger, etc. etc.) I’m lucky I have Joani who has a more level head and keeps me grounded otherwise I might float away in a dream bubble to Narnia or Oz and not be able to find my way back. Right now being in Paris, seems like a dream.
Wait a minute, maybe it is a dream! If any of you see me walking around the hospital with my eyes closed in the next couple of days, don’t wake me up! I’m having a great dream. Why don’t you just close your eyes and join me. You bring the bread and cheese and I’ll pick up a bottle of wine and we’ll have a picnic by the Giant Ferris Wheel.
Well gotta go. More dreams calling
Garry
