I'm calling this fully awake in Rome for two reasons. Yesterday we were walking around half asleep and the first time we were here 8 1/2 years ago,I was walking around in a dream state. This time I'm trying to be objective. Whenever I talk to people about going to Europe, my first statement is, "If you are going to Europe for the first time and you're not sure if you'll make it back a second time, you have to go to Italy, because it's the best!". Now Joani says that I might think that way because Italy was our first visit to Europe and felt very magical. Because Canada is only 150 years old, seeing ancient ruins 1, 2, or 3000 years old, for the first time, for a history nut like me was mind altering. Our first time in Europe being in Italy, maybe it stands out more than any other place we've been since. None of the archaeological sites we've visited in the other European countries have been any less cool, but your first time is always the best!! ( Am I still talking about ancient ruins?)
Anyway, getting back to being fully awake, this trip is partially about whether I actually love Italy as much as I think I do!
Today we pretty much just wandered around looking at Fountains.
Checked out some ancient ruins.
Some newer buildings.
We both Stuck our Hands in the "Bocca del Veritas" to see if we're honest!
We even had time to visit my old friend, Vincent!
Still haven't lost it Mr. Van Gogh.
Well I'm not ready to talk about the rest of Italy yet, but yes I will verify that Rome is still very cool!
