Part 2 of a three part mini series.
So we`ve taken the cable car to the top of the rock of Gibraltar and the first thing we find out is. THIS IS NO ROCK ! Small mountain maybe but it is definitely not a rock. We are way up in the clouds and my adrenaline and vertigo are warring with each other . Vertigo wants to make it a short visit and adrenaline coupled with male ego is saying come on, walk around, be brave you coward. Joani also has a bit of vertigo but she is game for whatever I want to do, so how do I resist. We leave the little place where the cable cars dock, with its Cafe and public washrooms, and head out for an adventure. The first thing we run into is a Gibraltar ape.
I have a hard time resisting animals but since this guy has big teeth and there are signs everywhere saying he doesn`t mind using them I resist the urge. I like my fingers too much, but he is a happy looking fellow don`t you think. We walk around the top for a while, see ruins from WW2, bunkers and such, take a couple of photos of the town below, when I come upon a stone staircase.
Looks fairly reasonable so I talk Joani into seeing where it heads thinking we will go around to the back side of the top. We descended one flight of these stairs and ran into a couple of girls coming up who said that this was the path to the road. What we didn`t realize was the road they were referring to was at the bottom of the rock. So on we went. The flights of steps alternated with steep rocky paths and for the next 75 minutes we clung to the side of the rock making our way through the clouds down to Gibraltar.
I know Joani loves me but I`m never sure why when I take her on one of these adventures.

We made it safely to the bottom, staggered back to the car and drove to Tarifa for a nights sleep in preparation for our trip to Tangiers, Morocco. The last 2 photos are of our guide and driver in Tangiers
and  Sign of the famed Kasbah
that  I had wanted to see . As the Clash put it. I got to "Rock the Kasbah".
Tangiers was unreal, surreal, real, real cool. and I will send you some more photos of it tomorrow. For now it`s off to Lisbon, Portugal.
 Bon Voyage
